Hong Kong-based wireless solutions provider Comba Telecom Systems Holdings has deployed an in-building wireless solution at the YAS Mall in Abu Dhabi for a multinational telecoms operator with operations in 15 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

YAS Mall is the largest shopping mall on YAS Island in Abu Dhabi and directly connects to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Comba Telecom deployed the DAS system with more than 1,100 indoor antennas distributed over a number of sectors of the mall to maximize subscriber coverage. The solution provides wireless coverage for over 690,000 square meters area across three large floors in the mall. Additionally, the system supports the latest mobile technologies for 2G/3G/4G, covering G900/U900/U2100/L2100/L1800 frequency bands and supporting carrier aggregation (2CA).

“With our R&D experts and experienced technical team, Comba Telecom has the capability to customize high-quality solutions for our customers for different project scenarios,” said Annabel Huo, executive director, senior vice president of the group and president of Comba Telecom International. “Looking ahead, 5G evolution will bring a lot of business opportunities in wireless building and enhancement globally.

“In addition to the 2G/3G/4G networks, Comba Telecom is ready for 5G and have developed a wide range of indoor and outdoor 5G solutions to help operators achieve future market needs, as well as adding business value,” she added.

Comba Telecom’s core product ComFlex DAS has been adopted by venues, shopping malls, high speed railways, tunnels, metropolitan areas and stadiums around the world, including the EurAsia Tunnel, the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, 2014 World Cup Brazil, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Brazil, and the Hong Kong MTR South Island Line, among others.

ComFlex DAS is an indoor distributed antenna system for commercial public mobile telecommunication network as well as private mobile network. The ComFlex system includes two main components: Master Unit (MU) – the interface for mobile base station and Remote Unit (RU) – the amplification unit. The system utilizes a single optical fiber to support multi-band and duplex operation.
