ADRF deploys public safety wireless coverage at Indianapolis international airport

 

In-building wireless technology provider Advanced RF Technologies (ADRF) said in a release that its ADXV public safety DAS and PSR series repeaters have been deployed at the Indianapolis International Airport.

ADRF said that the public safety solution serves first responders with wireless connectivity across the 1.2 million square foot airport terminal and parking garage.

“Major airports like Indianapolis International Airport are gateways to the rest of the world, and it’s important that first responders have uninterrupted connectivity to protect guests and staff in case of an emergency,” said Gabriel Guevara, sales director of ADRF. “We are excited to provide a best-in-class public safety system that ensures communication will never stand in the way of first responders saving lives.”

The Nokia team that managed the project designed the system with an existing public safety signal source feeding the ADXV DAS with one head-end connected to eighteen dual-band public safety fiber remotes to cover the entire airport, including hard-to-reach areas such as elevator shafts and stairwells. The modular ADXV solution initially supports 700/800 MHz public safety frequency bands and can add VHF/UHF in the implementation’s second phase.

“The safety of staff and guests will always be our highest priority at Indianapolis International Airport,” said Andrew Burnett, airport operations center manager at Indianapolis Airport Authority. “We were very pleased with the smooth installation of the public safety system from beginning-to-end and are confident it will support first responders in their mission to protect the millions of people frequenting the Indy airport each year.”

Last year, ADRF unveiled a suite of 5G wireless products, including millimeter wave repeaters, a digital distributed antenna system and millimeter wave support for its ADXV Series DAS.

The firm said that these solutions will enable carriers, enterprises, and building owners to provide 5G in-building wireless connectivity required to support Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Massive IoT (mMTC), Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (URLLC), and other data-intensive digital applications for buildings of different sizes.

ADRF highlighted that key 5G product highlights include:

-MWR Series mmWave repeaters, which brings in-building wireless coverage for small to medium size venues, supporting the n261 band (27.5 GHz-28.35 GHz) and up to 800 MHz IBW.

-ADXD Series Digital DAS: ADXD DAS provides a fiber-to-the-edge (FTTX) option to support multi-carrier 4G LTE and 5G high capacity and coverage connectivity needs for in-building networks. The modular and future-proof design transports frequencies from 600 to 3700 MHz on a single hardware layer regardless of protocol or modulation.

-mmWave Support for ADXV Series DAS, which improves ADRF?s flagship DAS in order to satisfy public safety, enterprise, and carrier needs on a single compact platform with the introduction of modules supporting 5G NR Band n261 (27.5 GHz-28.35 GHz).
