Enterprise IoT and Solutions for In-building Positioning

We have all become spoiled by the location awareness and services that result from GPS chips marking our position on the planet.  Our smartphones, watches, trackers etc all know where we are, and many companies have overlaid that knowledge with contextual information on stores, roads, coupons, menus and other valuable information.

That story really falls down when you enter a building, line of sight with satellites is not an option, other RF methods (Wifi, BT) based on location from signal strength triangulation have their limitations – and yet we expect the same level of service in doors.

Today I am speaking with Mickael Viot Marketing Manager at Decawave who are working on solutions for the in-building positioning problem.

As with much of IOT we talk about how enterprise and industry is further ahead in many areas.  We discuss some use cases and predictions – and look forward to improvements so that these really accurate in building and in home positions will support our thirst for even more location awareness.
