Kone secures new deals in Singapore, San Francisco

Finnish company elevator and escalator company Kone has been awarded the contract to equip the new development at the former Keppel Towers site, in Singapore, with a total of 23 elevators. The new commercial development will comprise a 32-storey Grade A office tower and ancillary retail spaces.

Kone will provide the redeveloped building with 17 Kone MiniSpace DX elevators and 6 Kone MonoSpace DX elevators, which have built-in connectivity functions.

The elevators serving the office floors will be installed with Kone Destination Control System that takes into account desired destination floors and the number of waiting passengers to significantly improve efficiency and convenience, as well as Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to allow potential future integration with the building’s in-house application or other third party systems, the European company said.

“Kone is pleased to be able to join Keppel Land in the redevelopment of Keppel Towers, as we have always recognized the importance of energy efficient, innovation led people flow solutions without compromising performance,” said Samer Halabi, EVP of Asia-Pacific at KONE. “We are excited to partner with Keppel Land to achieve their vision of a future-proof, sustainable, and intelligent commercial property.”

Kone noted that the order was booked in the third quarter of 2021, and the redevelopment of Keppel Towers is projected to be completed in 2024.

In related news, Kone said it has won an order for the modernization of all elevators and the installation of?Kone?Office Flow solutions in San Francisco’s historic Russ Building. With this announcement the Russ Building becomes the largest elevator modernization project in Kone Americas history. The building is located in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District. The 32-story building contains a mix of 16 low-, mid- and high-rise elevators.

“Through a strong long-term relationship, Kone has gained a unique understanding of this building’s complexities, including the aesthetics of its historic lobby,” said Ken Schmid, executive vice president, KONE Americas.

Kone solutions include 16 passenger elevators. All will be equipped with Kone Office Flow including a modular, connected solution that provides touch-free access with predictive elevator call, and Kone Destination, improving elevator convenience and efficiency.
