How Honeywell is helping building managers improve indoor efficiencies

New Jersey-based Honeywell is helping organizations to boost efficiency through the use of an application with the aim of improving the quality and comfort levels of workspaces. The Honeywell Vector Occupant app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, represents the first step toward an IoT-empowered workforce, driving occupant engagement and helping boost an organization?s overall brand, the company said.

?The Honeywell vector occupant app combines the convenience of today?s mobile devices with connected building features, providing occupants with more control in securely and efficiently moving around the building,? according to the company.

?With a cloud-based infrastructure and a rich collection of dashboards and analytics to promote the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of building operations, the occupant app integrates with core building functions including access and comfort control, indoor wayfinding, and location aware occupant satisfaction rating to enhance building occupants? experiences at the touch of a screen?.

The app is a scalable solution that organizations can use across multiple locations, enables building managers to ease digital identification management by issuing current digital photo ID badges on phones, promote overall building security by deploying higher security mobile credentials faster and more easily and controlling proxy access.

Through the use of this mobility tool, building managers can also gain immediate insights into where and how comfortable occupants are, to make temperature adjustments more quickly and easily and create a digital identity for buildings.

The app is part of the firm?s connected services portfolio, which leverages the connectivity of buildings to improve how they operate and the experiences for visitors and employees.

The Honeywell connected services portfolio also includes Honeywell Pulse, a real-time link between facility and engineering staff and their buildings to boost productivity and performance, and a suite of services that use real-time data and analytics to help focus maintenance activities for optimal facility performance.

In January this year, Honeywell added new capabilities to the Honeywell Vector Occupant app. The most significant new feature is indoor navigation, which uses GPS-like technology to help users find their way around complex buildings that are difficult to navigate without directions.

The benefits of the indoor navigation feature have been demonstrated in the Minneapolis Skyway System, a complex interlinked network of enclosed pedestrian walkways spanning 80 city blocks, Honeywell said.

In addition to the indoor navigation feature, the app also features location-based feature to rate spaces, allowing those within a building to highlight comfort issues to building staff for quick resolution. With this new feature, building owners and managers can view ratings and feedback on dashboards to pinpoint where building spaces need attention and improvements.
