U.S. wireless infrastructure provider Mobilitie has inked a deal with global event producer ASM Global as sports and entertainment venues worldwide begin to return to live events at full capacities.
“ASM Global creates memorable live events every night worldwide and we are committed to providing our fans with the ability to share their incredible experiences seamlessly in real-time,” said ASM Global President and CEO Ron Bension. “This extension of our partnership with Mobilitie will help fuel our creativity to envision and implement reimagined in-venue experiences.”
The multi-year agreement, brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, will allow ASM Global, to upgrade its international venue network with 5G connectivity solutions from Mobilitie.
Mobilitie will provide its scalable 5G architecture, which will also improve broadcast production and immersive viewing experiences from ASM Global arenas, stadia and convention centers. The new technology will enable the integration of new technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).
Christos Karmis, President and CEO of Mobilitie, said: “We look forward to continuing to work closely with their global leadership and venue teams. We currently provide neutral-host wireless networks at several ASM Global properties, including the recently announced Coliseo de Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico Convention Center venues, and we look forward to expanding worldwide.”
In a previous interview with In-Building Tech, Jason Caliento, EVP of network strategy at Mobilitie, said that the firm was working in 5G deployments at sports venues in preparation for future in-person events following the pandemic. “The company has a sizable portfolio of marquees sports and entertainment venues, and our teams are actively designing and deploying 5G across that entire portfolio in preparation for the in-person events that will come later in the year. There have been some really compelling advancements in what 5G can bring in terms of virtual reality and augmented reality, and we’re proud to be facilitating those user experiences.”
